Oh yeah!


Just a quickie because I really should be getting ready for work. But I'm pretty excited.

And...

that equals 5K! Or close enough to it that I'm calling it.
And it's just as well. I've got to do three times that in seven weeks from now!!!

It's about time



I finally got my act together and went for a run this morning. About 25 minutes running, which is a current best. Hooray!
The head's in the right space and things are going well.

Couch to 5K - Week 5 (Day 2)


Did lots of walking today and chucked in Day 2 of Week 5 of Couch to 5K for good measure. The huge spikes are traffic lights or stretching breaks. Usually I try to pause my watch for these things but just couldn't be bothered today.

The walk/run itself was fairly uneventful. Because I was out for longer I got to see new bits of the bay which was nice. And because of our hot weather (athough it was actually quite pleasant when I headed out) I threw all caution to the wind and wore something a little more revealing...

It's a running skirt and although it may not seem like much to some, the fact that you can see my knees is a HUGE deal. In case you're wondering what's going on with my right leg, my knee is taped to attempt to keep my kneecap tracking the way a kneecap is supposed to. I felt pretty self-conscious when I set out but decided in the end that if people have nothing better to do than have an issue with my very white, lumpy legs being out in public then that's their problem. The skirt does have little shortie things underneath it...

...so as to avoid revealing even more than would be socially acceptable in public on a Sunday morning...or any morning really!

Couch to 5K - Week 5 (Day 1) + Week 4


I wasn't supposed to run today but I wanted to because they're forecasting a few hot days in a row here and that usually wipes me out.

I'm cleary not following the Couch to 5K program properly. You're supposed to run each run a few times before moving on. Seeing as I'm not starting out from scratch I've been moving onto the next week's run based on how I feel after running the preceeding week. And generally I've been feeling pretty good.

Today is the first day where I've got home and I can really feel that I've run. I even had to whip out the Ventolin post-run. This is good - I know I worked harder today - and bad - asthma usually tends to be more of a winter thing for me.

Next run will include Week 5 Day 2. Week 5 of the program isn't the same run repeated, each run is different. Which I like - variety is the spice of life.
